The 9 oz. MugsThe 9 Oz mugs are among the most character decorated of all. With more consistent diameter and height it makes for a better canvas than most other mugs. It is actually more difficult to find a plain white one than a decorated one. There were some fired-on colored 9 oz mugs made but I believe these were generally made only after the Fire-King era ended. One exception is the black zodiac which is very hard to find marked Fire-King. The vast majority of them have only the Anchor Hocking symbol. Marked with the “Oven-Proof” embossing, you can count on these mugs being from the mid to late 1970s. A nice set of mugs with handsome
patterns, none of which are very common.
The Friday’s Child mug is one of a set of 8. 7 days and one general birthday mug, all of which are fairly uncommon and a set would be a small treasure. The Zodiac mugs marked Fire-King on bottom are very hard to find. The paradise bird mug is very pretty but unfortunately not marked Fire-King. The Strawberries mug is nice but shows some color loss. I Think I’m Allergic To Morning!; Curse You Red Barron! (the most valuable of these mugs. If you find one with an orange roof those are even more valuable); At Times Life is Pure Joy!
The Noel mug; The Sweet Treats
mug; and I’m Not worth A Thing Before Coffee Break!
