| This is a typical patterned
5” tall footed mug (one of at least 4 colors). These are found in
solid and graduated colors as well. Notice the unique handle shape
and the ridges at the base. The bottoms of all footed mugs are interesting
in that none of them have either WARE or Oven-Proof markings. They
are marked Anchor Hocking (anchor symbol) Fire-King Made in U.S.A and a
mold number. To my knowledge only these footed mugs are marked in
this manner. The bottoms also have a heat ring which seems a little
odd since they aren’t needed. |
A very rare horse head,
one of a set of 6 or more, in the shorter 4 ¼” footed mug. A slightly
different handle shape than the taller mug. |
The texture and coloration of this mug looks like Anchor Hocking’s but the base is marked only with a mold number which also resembles the size and font used in other Fire-King mugs. Regardless, it is more like a
goblet than a mug but I’ve had it a long time and any thoughts you out there have I’d be pleased to hear them. |
